Based on the beloved fairy tale first published in 1740 by French writer Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve, and inspired by the classic 1991 Disney film, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a magical musical that has enchanted audiences around the world. With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, and book by Linda Woolverton, this dazzling stage adaptation brings the timeless story to life with unforgettable songs and spectacular characters.

Belle is a bright, book-loving young woman living in a small French provincial village where she’s considered rather “odd.” When her inventor father Maurice stumbles upon a cursed castle and is taken prisoner by the monstrous Beast within, Belle offers herself in his place. The castle was once home to a handsome but cold-hearted Prince, transformed into a beast by an enchantress as punishment for his lack of empathy. His entire household—servants and all—were turned into enchanted objects: a candelabra, a clock, a teapot, a feather duster, and more.

An enchanted rose holds the key to breaking the spell. If the Beast can learn to love another and earn their love in return before the last petal falls, the curse will be lifted. If not, he will remain a beast forever. As Belle and the Beast begin to see past their differences, the household staff rallies around them with warmth, humor, and some of the most beloved songs in musical theatre history.

Featuring iconic songs including “Belle,” “Gaston,” “Be Our Guest,” “Something There,” and the sweeping title number, along with additional songs written for the stage, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast is a heartwarming celebration of courage, compassion, and the transformative power of love.
